
Having lain overnight at anchor in Brodick Bay, the 20,837 gross ton bulk carrier FEDERAL SCHELDE moved up-river this morning to King George V Dock to discharge her cargo of plywood. Registered at Bridgetown in Barbados, this well-turned out ship was built by the Jiangnan Shipyard in China, and was completed in August 1997. Owned by Federal Atlantic Ltd, she is managed by Hong Kong-based Anglo-Eastern Ship Management Ltd. Her dimensions are 200 metres overall length, with a beam of 23.55 metres and fully laden draft of 10.7 metres, with a corresponding deadweight of 34,372 tonnes. A single screw ship, she is driven by a Burmeister & Wain 6S50MC engine. She meets the rigorous standards laid down by the US Coastguard and is one of a few ships to have been awarded
Qualship 21 status.
