NAVION AKARITA

Now bearing her fourth name, the tanker NAVION AKARITA arrived this afternoon on the Clyde with a cargo of North Sea crude oil for Finnart. Previously being seen on the river as NORDIC AKARITA, she was originally named AKARITA when built in 1991 by Tsuneishi Shipbuilding at Hiroshima in Japan. She is 107,223 tonnes deadweight and measures some 246.7 metres overall. Registered in Nassau, this shuttle tanker is now managed by Teekay Marine Services, and is capable of loading oil from Single Point Moorings, such as this one at Scapa in the Orkneys.
