Multi-coloured Boxboat

Possibly one of the most colourful vessels sailing around these days, the Sietas 160 hatchless type container ship WERDER BREMEN is a regular caller at Greenock on her fortnightly MacAndrews service to Rotterdam, Lisbon, Leixoes, Dublin and Liverpool, running on opposite weeks to CITY OF OPORTO. Her colour scheme reflects the colours of the football team after which she is named, her owner being a strong supporter of the club. She dates from 1999, and is operated and managed by Beluga Shipping, who sponsor the football club. WERDER BREMEN has a capacity of 700 TEU, and is 6,378 gross tons. She is 121.9 metres long, and her draft when fully loaded is 6.69 metres. Single screwed, with a controllable pitch propeller, her main engine is a MAN B&W 8L40/54 engine. This view shows her arriving late on Thursday afternoon - she sailed again at around 0600 on Friday morning.
