With the imminent start of Neptune Warrior 072 the Clyde has been busy today with naval visitors about to take part in the exercise. One such vessel is the United States Navy's 'Arleigh Burke' class destroyer USS McFAUL (DDG 74), which is seen arriving this morning on her way to the Clyde Naval Base at Faslane in the Gareloch. USS McFAUL is 153.8 metres long, and has a displacement of 9,000 tonnes. Capable of 32 knots, she is armed with Tomahawk cruise missiles amongst other weaponry, which includes a 5" gun mounted forward. Her home base is at Norfolk, Virginia.Friday, 14 September 2007
