AORA

Keppel Pier on the island of Great Cumbrae is the home of the University Marine Biological Station, which is where this little vessel, AORA, is based. A state-of-the-art vessel equipped for experimental fishing, seabed surveys using the latest sonar equipment, and sea-water quality testing AORA undertakes research to provide important information for any attempt to improve the marine environment and replenish fish stocks. She was built by Macduff Shipyards in 2003 and named by HRH The Princess Royal at a ceremony in Millport. AORA is 22 metres in length, and has accommodation for 5 personnel.
