Another grey ship, this time heading from the Clyde, was the container ship VELAZQUEZ. British registered, this vessel is owned by Peter Dohle, the German shipowner, and is now carrying her third name since she was built in 2003. Originally named ASTRA, she later became CMA CGM TATIANA, but was given her current name when she took up her current charter on the MacAndrews UK/Spain service. Built at the Hamburg shipyard of
JJ Sietas KG, this Type 172 ship has a deadweight of 8,732 tonnes, and a capacity of 864 TEU. She is 137.50 metres overall, and is generally employed on a service between Dublin, Liverpool and Bilbao. It was to this latter port that she was heading today.
