The latest vessel to have joined the Ministry of Defence Police is this 15 metre launch, designed specifically for the role by Holyhead Marine. Capable of speeds of up to 33 knots, thanks to her twin waterjet propulsion, this vessel entered service with the MDP in July this year, initially undergoing two weeks of trials at Devonport before heading north to the Clyde. She is built of GRP, and has a fully air-conditioned wheelhouse. Her duties include escort duties for military ships visiting this area, as well as enforcing security and anti-terrorism measures around the Clyde Naval Base at Faslane. If trials of 07001 - she does not appear to have a name, as yet - prove successful, there are plans to contruct another fifteen of the type.
