The smallest ferry currently in service with CalMac on the Clyde is the 'Loch' class vessel LOCH RIDDON. Employed on the wintertime service from Tarbert across Loch Fyne to Portavadie with a daily run to Lochranza on Arran, she had a break from service over Christmas, and again over New Year, spending her time off at her overnight berth in the Inner Harbour at Tarbert. LOCH RIDDON is one of four sisters, and she joined the Caledonian MacBrayne fleet in 1986, spending a considerable number of years on the short crossing from Colintraive to Rhubodach before moving to the Largs-Cumbrae Slip route in 1997. She was built by Richard Dunston at the Hessle shipyard on the Humber, and has a gross tonnage of 206 tons. She can carry up to 12 cars and 200 passengers.
