KINDEACE and WARRIOR III

Two of the three tugs which assisted at Loch Striven this morning are illustrated here. KINDEACE, still helping out the Svitzer fleet shows her similar lineage to WARRIOR III (below) - both were originally Japanese harbour tugs.

WARRIOR III, smallest of the Svitzer fleet currently based at Greenock, has recently had a spell off duty while undergoing heavy maintenance. She was built in Japan, as noted above, in 1975, and is 29.65 metres long. Her maximum bollard pull is 35 tonnes, with power coming from two Z-pellers driven by Niigata main engines of 1,300 bhp.
