Laid up tonnage

Newly arrived back at Rosneath in the past few days is CalMac's former Sound of Barra ferry, which was recently serving on her original Sound of Harris crossing in a relief capacity while LOCH PORTAIN was undergoing her annual docking at Greenock. On the outer side of the pier are JUNO, which has now lain there for a year, and SATURN. It is just possible to see that there is a 'hauling off' wire running from SATURN's forward starboard fairlead down into the water. These wires, similar to those fitted at Gourock Pier, are attached to anchors on the seabed and assist keeping the vessel slightly clear of the pier face to reduce the risk of contact damage.
