Occasionally the Clyde tug fleet requires to be augmented by another vessel, and as SVITZER MALLAIG is currently at Ferguson Shipbuilder's yard at Port Glasgow having some work done, the Londonderry tug SHROVE made an appearance this morning to assist berthing the tanker
GENMAR HARRIET G at Finnart, after she had lain off Irvine for a number of weeks. SHROVE is owned by
Londonderry Port and Harbour Commissioners, and was built in Norway in 2000. Originally named BERGSLEP, she came to the UK in 2003. Although only 17.0 metres long, and 112 gross tons, she has an ahead bollard pull of 34 tons, and an astern pull of 33 tons. She is fitted with azimuthing drive.
