Baron's Point degaussing range. Naval vessels are fitted with their own degaussing equipment, and large magnetic coils laid on the seabed are used to calibrate the ship's gear as she passes above them, vessels normally spending a few hours steaming each way along a set course until correct calibration is achieved. The naval tanker later headed back to the fuel jetty at Loch Striven.
