FGS HAMELN - M1092

As part of the minesweeping contingent for the forthcoming military exercise Joint Warrior 091, the German vessel HAMELN arrived on Friday morning. HAMELN was originally commissioned as a fast minesweeper in 1989 but was later rebuilt as a drone control vessel, one of five which now form the 'Ensdorf' class. At 54.4 metres long, this 635 tonne displacement vessel can do 18 knots, powered by 2 MTU diesel engines. A crew of 38 is carried and she can deploy up to four remote controlled drones to clear mines.
