ITS LUIGI DURAND DE LA PENNE - D560

Part of the Joint Warrior 091 exercise is being undertaken by the ships belonging to the Standing NATO Maritime Group 2, including its flagship, the Italian destroyer LUIGI DURAND DE LA PENNE, seen arriving in the rain this morning.  This guided missile destroyer was built at the Fincantieri shipyard and was launched in 1989, and commissioned in 1993. She is of some 4,500 tonnes displacement and measures 147.7 metres overall. Powered by combined gas turbines and diesels, she can attain a speed in excess of 30 knots.

Just seen her passing Skelmorlie today about 15:30 on her way home?
