VEGA MERCURY

Arriving from Rotterdam this afternoon was a new ship on her maiden voyage, bringing break bulk cargoes from the Far East to Europe. VEGA MERCURY was built to the 'CV1100' design by the Kouan Shipyard at Taizhou in China, and delivered to her German owners, Vega Reederei, during March this year.  Capable of carrying 1,118 TEU containers, VEGA MERCURY last called at Rotterdam where she unloaded a deck cargo of barges before heading for Glasgow, where she berthed today in King George V Dock.  VEGA MERCURY is 148.0 metres in length, and has a deadweight of 13,760 tonnes.
