HMCS MONTREAL - FFH 336

Seen passing the building hall at BAE's Scotstoun shipyard, the frigate MONTREAL was the second Canadian warship to arrive at Glasgow. Seventh of the 'Halifax' class, she was built at Saint John Shipbuilding and launched in 1992. Formally commissioned into the Canadian Navy in September 1993, she is based at Halifax. At 134.2 metres in length, MONTREAL is powered by a combined diesel or gas (CODOG) propulsion system comprised of a twenty cylinder Pielstick cruise diesel which provides fuel economy and endurance, and two General Electric LM 2500 gas turbines which when brought into service allow speeds of more than thirty knots.
