In a marked contrast to the conditions in which her sister ZEELEEUW was seen earlier in the week, the Dutch submarine DOLFIJN arrived on the Clyde on Sunday afternoon, still streaming her Towed Array aft. After passing Dunoon, she headed to the southern end of Loch Long where it was passed to a waiting tug - the submarine then proceeded to Faslane to join the other naval craft awaiting the start of the exercise. DOLFIJN was built at Rotterdam, like her sister, and her construction commenced in 1985. Launched in 1990, she was formally commissioned as a naval unit in January 1993. In 1998 she was given a lengthy refit, including fitting a new snort exhaust diffuser, seen on the after side of her conning tower.
