OVERSEAS YOSEMITE

Outbound from Finnart on a 'dreich' afternoon, the Aframax tanker OVERSEAS YOSEMITE had been discharging a cargo of North SEa crude oil that she had loaded at Mongstad in Norway. Heading for Tallinn in the Baltic, the tanker is a new ship only delivered to the Overseas Shipping Group last year. Although to all intents and purposes an American ship, she is owned and managed by a British subsidiary and flies the flag of the Marshall Islands. She is 113,005 tonnes deadweight, with an overall length of 250 metres. Sister of OVERSEAS YELLOWSTONE, she was built by the New Times Shipbuilding Company in China.
