GRAND PRINCESS

First large cruiseship of the year to visit Greenock in 2011 was GRAND PRINCESS, seen here arriving early in the day. As she had done last year, she had had just crossed the Atlantic after spending the winter months cruising in the Caribbean. Prior to leaving that area, she had undergone an extensive drydocking in the Bahamas, during which the Skywalkers nightclub was removed, altering her profile considerably. GRAND PRINCESS left Fort Lauderdale on 6th May and will now spend the summer in Europe. Lying at anchor in the distance is DRAGON, fourth of the Type 45 destroyers built on the Clyde and which was waiting to return upriver to Scotstoun after successfully completing another phase of trials.
